Park Square veterans Charity Jones and John Middleton portray Alice and Henry, a couple married for twenty-five years and looking to rekindle the romance in their relationship. Locked up in a posh hotel room with a copy of the book “Sex for Dummies” in hand, Alice and Henry find themselves in some awkward and humorous moments as they attempt to recapture what they lost.
Sexy Laundry isn’t a wild romp as the title may suggest. It is a genuine look at how relationships evolve. All relationships start out full of passion, but over time they naturally boil down to a simmer. Unsatisfied with the simmer her marriage has become, Alice insists she and Henry spend a weekend reconnecting and attempting to save their marriage.
The show runs about 90 minutes and provides tons of laughs. The biggest laughs probably come when poor Henry attempts to turn the TV on and has 3 remotes to choose from. Instead of successfully turning the TV on, he ends up turning the room into a dance club complete with disco ball, mood lighting and music.
Sexy Laundry is playing at Park Square Theatre in Saint Paul through September 28. For more information on the show or to purchase tickets visit Park Square’s website.
